![]() William ConableWilliam Conable is Professor Emeritus of Cello at the Ohio State University School of Music in Columbus, where he taught from 1972 through 2008. He now resides in the Spokane area. He is known not only as a cello performer and teacher but also as a conductor and chamber musician. Dr. Conable was Principal Cellist of the Columbus Symphony for ten years and served in the same position for the Youngstown and Springfield Symphonies and the Dayton Opera. He has been Music Director of the Ohio Light Opera, the Columbus Light Opera, the Ohio State University Sinfonietta, and the Knox County Symphony. He is cellist of the Cipriani Trio and has appeared as soloist with the Youngstown and Columbus Symphonies, as well as the Ohio State University Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. He has taught and performed in Switzerland, Japan, Taiwan, Chile, Austria, Hungary, the Slovak Republic, and Brazil. He is expert in music of all periods, but has specialized in music of the Baroque and of the Twentieth Century. He is editor of the Sonatas of Giacobbo Cervetto, published by Bärenreiter Verlag, and is a renowned teacher of the Alexander Technique. He holds the doctorate from Boston University, where he studied with Richard Kapuscinski and Leslie Parnas. |
